Hospitality: Practical guide
Hotel and resort seasons
Recruitment usually starts before guests arrive. Apply early enough for interviews, references, uniforms and staff housing.
Ski resorts in the Alps and Nordic winter destinations: housekeeping, reception, night audit, guest services, spa and chalet/resort support. Lapland demand is strongest around the winter and Christmas season.
Shoulder season and summer opening: coastal hotels, islands, camps, national parks and mountain resorts recruit and train teams. Many US park and European summer contracts start in April/May.
Main summer peak for coasts, islands, lakes, parks, camps and city tourism. Expect high occupancy, weekend work, early housekeeping shifts and split or rotating schedules.
Autumn conferences, harvest/wine tourism and Christmas-market preparation. Some summer properties close; winter resorts begin their main recruitment window.
